【摘要】:Thetestresultsrepresenttheafterflameandafterglowtimes,inseconds,foramaterialundertheconditionsofthetest.Theafterflameandafterglowtimesandotherburningphenomenawillvarywiththickness.Testdatashallonlybecomparedwithdataformaterialofcomparablethickness.Theeffectofmaterialthickness,colors,additives,deterioration,andpossiblelossofvolatilecomponentsismeasurable.Theresultsserveasareferenceforcomparingtherelativeperformanceofmaterialsandcanbeanaidinmaterialselection.Inthisprocedure,thespecimensaresubjectedtooneormorespecificsetsoflaboratorytestconditions.Ifdifferenttestconditionsaresubstitutedortheend-useconditionsarechanged,itwillnotalwaysbepossiblebyorfromthistestmethodtopredictchangesinthefire-test-responsecharacteristicsmeasured.Therefore,theresultsarevalidonlyforthefire-testexposureconditionsdescribedinthistestmethod.1.1Thisfire-test-responsetestmethodsdescribesmall-scalelaboratoryproceduresfordeterminingthecomparativeburningcharacteristicsofsolidplasticmaterialsthat,duetospecimenthinnessandnonrigidity,distortorshrinkwhentestedusingTestMethodD3801.Aflameisappliedtothebaseofspecimensheldinaverticalpositionandtheextinguishingtimesaredetermineduponremovalofthetestflame.1.2TheclassificationsystemdescribedinAppendixX1isintendedforqualityassuranceandthepreselectionofcomponentmaterialsforproducts.1.3Thisstandardmeasuresanddescribestheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.Note18212;ThisstandardisequivalenttoISO9773.Note28212;Forrateofburningofnonrigidsolidplasticsinahorizontalposition,formerlyTestMethodBofthistestmethod,seeTestMethodD635,section9.4.1.4Firetestingisinherentlyhazardous.Adequatesafeguardsforpersonnelandpropertyshallbeemployedinconductingthesetests.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatements,see6.1.1.
